Bio Therapeutic Manipulation of the Thorax


Giles Cleghorn Method and Training - The CMT™ Bio Therapeutic Manipulation of the Thorax

This two day course focuses on Bio Therapeutic Manipulation as practiced by Giles Cleghorn, refined and perfected in over 30 years of his clinical work.

Bio therapeutic manipulation™ is a refined technique formulated by Giles Cleghorn for the whole body. The method differs from other manipulative approaches, as it is ultra specific to the tissue, can cross all tissue boundaries, is simple, direct and gentle, requiring no thrusts at all. The manipulation extends to all soft tissues and fluids of the body.

Academics will cover revision of:

  • The anatomy of the thoracic spine and rib cage.
  • The pathologies of the spine and ribs.
  • The physiology of the thorax.

The clinical application in common Thoracic problems

Such as spinal dysfunction, scoliotic curves, chest wall pain syndrome and diaphragmatic spasms. Along with this, direct trauma to the chest and thoracic spine form whiplash and mechanical accidents. In the visceral fields, asthma and bronchitis related syndromes.

Practical sessions will will cover the manipulation of:

  • The cervical thoracic junction
  • The upper three ribs
  • Correction of the sternum
  • The pectoral girdle
  • The scapular and the clavicles
  • The mid thoracic ribs
  • The thoracic vertebrae T2 -4
  • The thoracic vertebrae T5 -8
  • The thoracic lumbar junction
  • The lower floating ribs
  • The thoracic diaphragm

Visceral components will include the manipulation of the Liver and Gall Bladder and the Vagus and Phrenic Nerves.

This course runs for 2 days, giving 16 hours of CPD.
